Call When You Can
Written by Nathan Zirk
Call When You Can is a ten-minute play that follows a college student’s relationship with home across four years, from daily freshman phone calls to senior-year silence. Staged through parallel moments at a kitchen table and a dorm room desk, the play reveals how distance grows not through conflict, but through busyness, independence, and the quiet assumption that there will always be more time. As missed calls turn into unheard voicemails, the story builds to a devastating final message that forces the audience to confront what can be lost in the space between “I’ll call later” and too late.
